PM Modi warns of dimagi Naxals in political parties
The Prime Minister said that while armed Naxalites have been removed from forests, a new threat exists within various organisations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that although armed Naxalites have been eliminated from forests, the threat remains through "dimagi Naxals". Speaking at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in Karanpur, Chhattisgarh's Bastar district, while celebrating Diwali with security personnel, the Prime Minister claimed these individuals have taken control of several organisations, including political parties.
According to reports by The Times of India, the Prime Minister alleged that these "dimagi Naxals" are inciting people against democracy and the Constitution. He stated that the nation must identify and defeat these elements to protect national security.
Modi noted that the fight against Maoist terror was difficult, as more than 230 districts across nearly 20 states were previously affected. He credited the government's policies and political will for the current situation, stating that recent decisions helped disrupt funding networks for Naxalites and separatists.
The Prime Minister highlighted that security forces were previously restricted in their response to attacks, but have since been given the freedom to make necessary decisions. He also mentioned that the government worked to dismantle support networks within the administration.
Regarding security personnel, the Prime Minister noted that for the first time in 47 years, no CRPF jawan has been killed in the line of duty over the past year. He described the end of Maoist terror in the region as a result of the sacrifice and dedication of the forces.
