Trump says he will veto everything if Democrats control Congress in midterms

The US President is preparing executive actions to push policies if the Democratic Party wins a majority in the midterm elections.

Americans are voting on November 3 in midterm elections to decide the extent of President Donald Trump's power for the remainder of his term. All 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 Senate seats are up for election, according to The Indian Express.

Trump has stated he may use his veto power for a month or two before attempting to reach deals if Democrats gain control. Speaking on a podcast, Trump said, "I guess I'll become Mr Veto."

The Trump administration is reportedly preparing executive actions on immigration, tariffs, housing costs, and federal spending to bypass congressional approval. Senior officials, including Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and Budget Director Russell Vought, have been working with the White House Counsel’s Office on these measures, Reuters reported.

A Democratic takeover would allow the party to investigate the administration and block judicial or executive branch nominees. To end the current Republican majorities, Democrats need to gain four seats in both the House and Senate.

In Michigan, Democratic Congresswoman Haley Stevens endorsed Republican Mike Rogers over the Democratic nominee, Abdul El-Sayed. Trump has frequently attacked El-Sayed regarding his Muslim faith during his campaign.

In California, the Supreme Court turned down a request by the Trump administration to set aside thousands of disputed mail-in ballots after a federal judge had ordered the administration to stop the demand.
