Congress MP seeks central approval for Telangana infrastructure projects
Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy has requested national highway status for two corridors and a Rs 45,000 crore radial road plan.
Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy has requested the Union government to approve two major infrastructure proposals for Telangana, according to Urban Acres. The proposals include granting national highway status to two regional road corridors and a Rs 45,000 crore project to construct 10 greenfield radial roads.
The radial road plan aims to link Hyderabad’s existing Outer Ring Road with the proposed Regional Ring Road. The two requested highway corridors cover routes from Sangareddy to Choutuppal via Narsapur, Toopran, Gajwel, Jagdevpur, and Bhongir, as well as a route through Choutuppal, Amangal, Shadnagar, and Sangareddy.
Reddy stated he discussed these requirements with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, noting the state's increasing transport and infrastructure needs. He said that Hyderabad and Telangana require improved logistics and modern roads to maintain economic growth.
Gadkari has informed Reddy that the policy for designating new national highways is currently undergoing consultation. The proposals will be processed once the central government finalises these guidelines.
Reddy said he would continue to pursue these demands with the Union government, adding that Telangana deserves timely decisions and the necessary investment for its future.
