Delhi Police ACP Manasvi Vashisth suspended after leading personnel protest

The suspension follows a demonstration outside the headquarters where officers demanded the reinstatement of the ACP and an SHO.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Manasvi Vashisth has been suspended after leading a protest by police personnel outside the Delhi Police headquarters, according to reports from Bhaskar English and The Tribune.

The demonstration on November 2 involved approximately 150 personnel, including women officers, who gathered to demand the reversal of recent transfer orders. The protesters sought the reinstatement of Vashisth and Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Arun Kumar to their previous positions.

The controversy began following an incident on October 23 at Shahdara Police Station, where lawyer Lalit Bansal allegedly sustained a head injury during an assault. Lawyers, including complainant Amulya Ratan, alleged that Vashisth and Kumar threatened and intimidated them with a revolver when they questioned the handling of the case.

While the Coordination Committee of All District Court Bar Associations of Delhi had previously called for action against the officers, senior police officials maintained that the allegations were false and lacked evidence. The two officers were transferred on October 28, with Vashisth moving to the Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC) and Kumar to the Security branch.

During the Monday protest, New Delhi DCP Sachin Sharma attempted to persuade the personnel to enter the headquarters, but they remained firm. The officers eventually met with Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar to raise their grievances.

While reports indicate Vashisth has been suspended, the official order and specific reasons have not been made public by the Delhi Police.
