India and US begin fifth Tiger Triumph exercise in Visakhapatnam
The bilateral tri-service drill focuses on disaster response, cyber, and space synchronisation to strengthen the defence partnership.
India and the United States have commenced the fifth edition of the bilateral Exercise Tiger Triumph in Visakhapatnam, according to reports by The Times of India and The Hawk. The tri-service exercise officially began with an opening ceremony on Monday.
This edition of the drill aims to enhance joint capabilities for humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR). It also focuses on integrated multi-domain command and control, tabletop staff planning, and synchronisation involving cyber and space domains.
US Pacific Fleet Vice Commander Rear Admiral Joaquin Martinez de Pinillos said the exercise shows the growing sophistication and shared commitment of the US-India major defence partnership. He added that the training prepares both forces to react quickly to natural disasters and crises in the region.
Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet Rear Admiral Vishal Bishnoi stated that the exercise brings together the complementary capabilities of the armed forces in demanding HADR settings. Participating personnel will also engage in subject-matter expert exchanges, community outreach, and cultural events.
The Tiger Triumph series began in 2019 in Visakhapatnam and Kakinada. While earlier editions focused on disaster relief, the 2026 version includes specialised training in all-domain tabletop exercises and command synchronisation.
