US and Indian forces begin Exercise Tiger Triumph 2026 in Visakhapatnam

The fifth edition of the bilateral exercise aims to improve joint responses to natural disasters and regional crises.

The United States and Indian Armed Forces have started the fifth edition of the bilateral exercise Tiger Triumph 2026 in Visakhapatnam, according to ANI.

The joint military drill officially commenced with an opening ceremony on November 2. It is designed to bolster defence cooperation and increase operational interoperability between the two nations.

The exercise involves training in humanitarian aid, disaster relief, tabletop staff planning, and integrated multi-domain command and control. It also includes specialised synchronisation involving cyber, space, and command functions.

US Navy Rear Admiral Joaquin Martinez de Pinillos, Vice Commander of the US Pacific Fleet, said the exercise shows the growing strength and shared commitment of the U.S.-India Major Defense Partnership. He added that the training prepares forces to respond quickly to regional crises.

Indian Navy Rear Admiral Vishal Bishnoi, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, stated the drill reflects an enduring partnership built on mutual trust and professional respect. He noted the exercise brings together the complementary capabilities of both armed forces in disaster response settings.

Tiger Triumph has been held five times since it began in 2019.
