Mumbai BJP chief criticises BMC over Dia Mirza anti-pollution video

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation deleted a social media video featuring the actress after political criticism regarding Diwali celebrations.

Mumbai BJP President Ameet Satam criticised the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for featuring actress Dia Mirza in an anti-pollution campaign, according to Moneycontrol.

The BMC had shared a video where Mirza appealed to Mumbai residents to follow Bombay High Court directions regarding noise pollution and the use of firecrackers during Diwali.

Satam posted on social media that people do not need lessons on how to celebrate Diwali from the actress, stating that traditions are deeply rooted in culture.

The original post from the civic body noted that the High Court prohibits the use of firecrackers on footpaths, lanes, and public roads.

The BMC has since removed the video from its social media handles without providing an explanation for the deletion.

Mirza has previously used her platform to address environmental conservation and air pollution issues in Mumbai.
