Jagan Mohan Reddy blames Naidu government for Raptadu schoolgirl attack

The YSRCP president demanded Rs 50 lakh compensation and free medical care for the Class 10 student injured in the incident.

YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy held the Chandrababu Naidu government responsible for an attack on a Class 10 student at a Zilla Parishad school in Raptadu, Anantapur district, on Monday, 2 November, according to South First.

Jagan Mohan Reddy visited the girl at Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru, where she is receiving treatment. He demanded that the government provide free medical care and pay at least Rs 50 lakh in compensation to the student.

The YSRCP leader alleged that the government's negligence allowed an unidentified person to enter the school and attack the student. He further claimed that the administration has permitted the unchecked spread of ganja and liquor shops in villages, which he said puts children at risk.

The accused, Hemanth, faces the possible amputation of half of his right leg. Hospital Superintendent Malleswari stated that gangrene developed due to a lack of blood circulation following injuries sustained during police firing. Doctors are currently monitoring his condition and will make a final decision after medical tests.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said the girl's condition is improving after an 11-hour surgery. He stated that if the government does not provide the compensation, the YSRCP will assist the family within a month of returning to power.

A Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the High Court seeking an inquiry into the police firing on Hemanth. The High Court has issued notices to the respondents and adjourned the hearing until Tuesday.
