Telangana to provide free AI training to 1 lakh students
The Telangana AI and Cloud Skilling Initiative will be implemented by TASK in collaboration with Amazon Web Services.
IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu announced on Monday that one lakh students across Telangana will receive free artificial intelligence training. The Telangana AI and Cloud Skilling Initiative will be carried out by the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
According to Urban Acres, an agreement between the two organisations was signed at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat.
Minister Sridhar Babu stated that the initiative will not cost the state government, the students, or the participating educational institutions any money.
The programme will cover machine learning, generative AI, cloud computing, data engineering, and artificial intelligence across 643 colleges affiliated with TASK. Training is intended for students in both technology and non-technology disciplines, including specialised tracks for Arts and Commerce students alongside Engineering and Science students.
Students will get access to the AWS Cloud Console for practical learning and one year of free access to over 900 digital courses through AWS Skill Builder. The initiative also includes discount vouchers for global certification exams, industry-connect sessions, and hackathons.
Sridhar Babu said TASK will organise special job fairs for eligible students who finish the training to support their employment opportunities. Faculty members from the participating colleges will also receive training in cloud technologies and artificial intelligence.
The announcement did not specify the completion schedule, the number of students per college, or the eligibility criteria for the job fairs.
