PM Modi likely to inaugurate Bengaluru's elevated Pink Line on November 13

The 7.5-km elevated metro stretch has received safety clearance and will expand the city's metro network to 103.6 km.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Bengaluru on November 13 to inaugurate the elevated section of the Namma Metro Pink Line, according to reports by Moneycontrol, The Hindu and BusinessLine.

Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya hinted at the date in a post on X, writing, "November 13th. #PinkLine". Moneycontrol reported that the Prime Minister's Office has confirmed the visit, though his full schedule is being finalised.

The 7.5-km elevated stretch received safety clearance from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) on October 28. This section includes seven stations: Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIMB, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital, Ragigudda and Tavarekere.

Karnataka Minister for Revenue Krishna Byre Gowda said the elevated portion has the necessary safety sanction and the state is ready to launch public services once the Government of India provides an inauguration date.

The Pink Line is part of the Namma Metro Phase 2 network. Once this elevated section opens, the operational network will grow from 96.1 km to 103.6 km.

The remaining 13.8-km underground section, which will connect Dairy Circle to Nagawara via M.G. Road and Shivajinagar, is still under construction. BMRCL aims to open the entire Pink Line, including the underground corridor, by May 2027.
