Global companies bid for design of Bidadi AI township
The Karnataka government has issued final notifications for all nine villages required for the proposed artificial intelligence township.
The Greater Bengaluru Development Authority (GBDA) is finalising tenders for the design and planning of India's first AI-powered township in Bidadi, according to The Hindu. This development comes as the Karnataka government completes the issuance of final notifications for all nine villages needed for the project.
The government issued final notifications for the remaining two villages, Bairamangala and Kanchugaranahalli, last week. In Bairamangala, 1,142.25 acres have been notified, while 753.11 acres have been notified in Kanchugaranahalli. With these steps, the government has notified 7,357.36 acres of residual land out of the 9,640 acres required for the project.
A senior GBDA official told The Hindu that bids have been received from global players through a Global Expression of Interest. The selected consultants will work with the Project Management Unit at all stages of planning.
Farmers have been protesting the project for over 560 days. Protesting farmer Prakash H.G. told The Hindu that notifications were issued before the committee constituted by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar could release its report on the project's merits and demerits.
Yashavantha T., general secretary of the Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha, said the move contrasts with the Chief Minister's previous statement that the project would not be touched until the committee submitted its report.
GBDA sources told The Hindu that compensation is being paid to farmers giving up land and that the process will follow the committee's recommendations. Documents show farmers in Bairamangala are set to receive nearly Rs 2.4 crore per acre.
