Harsh Dubey takes nine wickets to set Vidarbha record against Madhya Pradesh

The left-arm spinner recorded the best bowling figures in Vidarbha's Ranji Trophy history during the Round 4 Elite Group A match.

Vidarbha's left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey took 9/53 to help dismiss Madhya Pradesh for 209 on Monday, November 2, at the VCA Jamtha Stadium in Nagpur. According to reports from Outlook, Sportstar, and The News Mill, Dubey's performance set a new record for the best bowling figures by a Vidarbha bowler in Ranji Trophy history, surpassing Arun Ogiral's 1967 record of 8/39.

Madhya Pradesh won the toss and elected to bat first in the Elite Group A contest. While Atharva Mahajan top-scored with 85 runs and Saransh Jain added 34, the visitors were bowled out in 66.1 overs. Nachiket Bhute was the only other bowler to take a wicket during the innings.

Dubey's nine-wicket haul moved him to second place on the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy most wickets list with 23 wickets in seven innings. He trails Uttar Pradesh's Kartik Yadav and Hyderabad's Tanay Thyagarajan, who both have 24 wickets. Dubey maintains an average of 12.56, the best among the top 10 wicket-takers.

Vidarbha reached 56/4 by the end of the day's play. Madhya Pradesh's Kumar Kartikeya took three wickets, leaving Dhruv Shorey on 21 not out and captain Akshay Wadkar on 9 not out.
