Pradosh Ranjan Paul scores unbeaten century to favour Tamil Nadu
The batter's 138 runs helped Tamil Nadu reach 320/4 against Chandigarh on the first day of their Ranji Trophy tie.
Pradosh Ranjan Paul scored an unbeaten 138 to help Tamil Nadu reach 320/4 against Chandigarh at the Sector 16 Stadium on Monday. This was the second century of the season and the 10th First Class century for the 25-year-old, according to The New Indian Express.
Tamil Nadu opted to bat and lost opener Vimal Khumar early to medium pacer Nikhil Sharma. N Jagadeesan scored 52 before being castled by left-arm spinner Bhagmender Lather, while B Indrajith made 51 before being caught and bowled by Nishunk Birla.
Indrajith's half-century was his 30th for Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy, surpassing the previous record of 29 held by S Sharath. Paul and Indrajith had added 139 runs for the third wicket.
Paul said he was delighted the century served the team's cause and noted that the partnerships with Jagadeesan and Indrajith were vital. He explained that he made mental adjustments to play closer to his body and more along the ground.
The batter also addressed a previous batting order shuffle, stating it was a team call based on how the Chepauk wicket behaved. He added that he is flexible to play at any position the team requires.
Paul and G Ajitesh are expected to return to the middle on Tuesday as Tamil Nadu seeks a win against Chandigarh.
