Odisha restrict Jharkhand to 37/3 on weather-curtailed opening day
Jharkhand struggled to score as Odisha's pace bowlers took three wickets before bad light forced stumps at KIIT Stadium on Monday.
Odisha dominated the opening day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match against Jharkhand at KIIT Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Monday. According to Odisha Bytes, the home side opted to bowl first in seam-friendly conditions under cloudy skies.
The pace attack led by Rajesh Mohanty reduced Jharkhand to 15/3 early in the innings. Mohanty dismissed Aryaman Sen for 1 and Utkarsh Singh for 6, while Rajesh Dhuper recorded a catch behind to dismiss Singh.
Sharandeep Singh was run out for 6 during the proceedings. Jharkhand reached 37/3 in 25 overs as skipper Virat Singh and Aditya Singh worked to prevent further damage before bad light forced the players to stop play.
The match follows a previous instance at the same venue where Cyclone Arnab caused a draw in Odisha's match against Services. Cyclone Murasu is currently approaching the Andhra coast and may bring rain to Odisha.
Play is scheduled to continue on Day 2.
