Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviews Bharat-made B28 bullet train manufacturing
The minister visited the BEML facility in Bengaluru to inspect production stages and onboard systems of the India-made train.
Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw visited the BEML Aditya manufacturing facility in Bengaluru on Sunday to inspect the production of the Bharat-made B28 bullet train, according to reports by BusinessLine and Deccan Herald.
During the visit, Vaishnaw looked at the technical setup used for building the train body, including the tools and frames used for fabrication. He observed various production phases such as the assembly of the roof, sidewalls, and underframe, as well as surface preparation and treatment.
The minister also watched a 'Squeeze Test' demonstration. This quality check involves applying controlled compressive and tensile forces to the train carbody to check its rigidity, dimensional stability, and structural strength.
Vaishnaw examined passenger seating for comfort and reviewed onboard components like the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system, couplers, and other equipment. He also looked at the manufacturing and integration of side and roof modules.
The B28 train will be 202 metres long with eight coaches and a capacity for 557 passengers. It is designed for a top speed of 280 kmph and an operational speed of 249 kmph.
The train is intended for the 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor, which is expected to be fully operational by December 2029, Deccan Herald reported.
