Delhi government plans revamp of Netaji Subhash Marg

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the 3.3-km stretch will link the capital's heritage with modern urban life.

The Delhi government plans to revamp the 3.3-km Netaji Subhash Marg stretch from Delhi Gate to Kashmiri Gate to decongest the city, according to ANI.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the project aims to transform the thoroughfare into an organised, attractive, and safe corridor that serves as a link between Delhi's history and modern life.

The redevelopment, spearheaded by the Indraprastha Heritage Redevelopment Corporation (IVPN), will be divided into three sections based on road width.

The first section from Kashmiri Gate to GPO Chowk is the busiest, with a width of 12 to 24 metres. The second section from GPO to Brij Mohan Chowk has an average width of 45 metres, while the third section from Brij Mohan Chowk to Delhi Gate ranges from 16.8 to 26 metres.

Proposed facilities include footpaths, bus lanes, motor vehicle lanes, cycle tracks, pedestrian plazas, and parking. The plan also includes upgraded bus stops and modern public restrooms on both sides of the road.

A Heritage Interpretation Park is envisioned near Delhi Gate, featuring statues, pavilions, and greenery. The project will also integrate 12 locations and green spaces, including the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, and Agrasen Park.
