Punjab Roadways and PRTC contractual workers to strike from November 16
The Punjab Roadways, Punbus and PRTC Contract Workers Union announced a three-day strike alleging the state government failed to fulfil previous assurances.
Contractual employees of Punjab Roadways, Punbus and the Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) have announced a three-day strike starting from November 16, according to The Tribune.
The Punjab Roadways, Punbus and PRTC Contract Workers Union called for the protest, stating that the state government has taken no concrete steps to regularise their services.
The union alleged that the government failed to fulfil assurances provided during previous negotiations despite repeated meetings.
This new agitation comes barely a week after a four-day strike held from October 21 to 24.
During that previous strike, approximately 158 buses remained off the roads in Jalandhar alone, which disrupted government-run bus services.
Commuters who depend on these public buses for daily travel may face difficulties if the workers proceed with the announced strike.
