The IT Minister held talks regarding expansion in Mangaluru and Udupi and explored collaboration in biotechnology, healthcare, and life sciences.

Karnataka IT Minister Priyank Kharge held discussions with senior executives of NTT DATA on Monday to discuss expanding the company's operations in the state. According to a statement from the Minister's office reported by Deccan Chronicle, the talks focused on growth in Mangaluru and Udupi.

NTT DATA, which recently acquired Karnataka-based Niveus Solutions and WinWire, intends to strengthen its presence in the coastal region. The company cited the availability of skilled talent as a key advantage for this expansion.

Minister Kharge said the government is building regional technology ecosystems through its Beyond Bengaluru programme by investing in infrastructure, skilling, and progressive policies. He stated that the focus is on taking investments to where talent is located.

The discussions included the state's Sustainable Data Centre Policy and opportunities to leverage NTT DATA's expertise in cloud services and digital infrastructure. The Minister also mentioned the proposed Mangaluru cable landing station.

Kharge encouraged the company to explore sectors such as biotechnology, healthcare, life sciences, and automotive manufacturing. He also invited NTT DATA to partner in the startup ecosystem through the Government First programme, which allows startups to pilot solutions with government departments.
