Temple website briefly crashes as pre-orders for Goyal's wearable open

Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal admitted the company underestimated demand after the Rs 85,000 brain-health device caused a traffic surge.

The official website for Temple, a brain-health wearable backed by Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal, briefly crashed on November 1 after pre-orders opened in India. The booking window for the device opened for Indian consumers at 9:30 pm on Sunday, according to reports by Hindustan Times, Financial Express, and The Indian Express.

Goyal acknowledged the issue on X, stating that there was too much traffic on temple.com. He noted that while the website faced access issues, orders were still working on the Temple app. Goyal described the situation as a "rookie mistake," admitting the company had underestimated the traffic and lacked auto scale.

Temple is a head-worn wellness wearable that attaches to the side of the head near the temple using medical-grade adhesive grips. It uses BrainFlow technology to monitor cerebral blood flow and tracks a metric called Entropy, which measures physiological strain on a scale of 1 to 250.

The device is priced at Rs 85,000 in India and is available in six colours, including True Gold, Rose Gold, Black Mirror, Real Jade, Deep Blue, and Purple Funk. The company stated that each device is handmade after an order is placed, with delivery expected within three months of purchase.

The wearable is positioned as a research and wellness tool rather than a medical-grade diagnostic device. Prominent figures such as badminton player PV Sindhu and cricketer Shubman Gill have been seen wearing the device.
