Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy dares police to take action against him

The Minister refuted claims regarding a sting video and accused Chief Minister DK Shivakumar of conspiring to distribute videos of Prajwal Revanna.

Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Monday dared the Bengaluru City Police to take action against him while refuting claims made by the police regarding a sting video targeting former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, according to The Hindu.

The Bengaluru Police had previously alleged that the video was exchanged at the Minister's residence in Delhi. Mr. Kumaraswamy denied this, stating that many people visit his residence and he does not know whom the Police Commissioner is referring to.

During a press conference, Mr. Kumaraswamy accused Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar of meeting and conspiring with the accused to distribute videos of former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna.

He further alleged that Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh is acting on the instructions of the Chief Minister.

The Minister questioned why the prime accused in the sting operation, Power TV managing director Rakesh Shetty, has not been arrested yet. This came after the Central Crime Branch (CCB) searched the residence and office of Mr. Shetty following a court warrant.

Mr. Kumaraswamy also raised concerns regarding the investigation, suggesting it is not being conducted objectively. He noted that a woman victim had complained to the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, but the complaint was not acted upon.

The Minister also asked why the woman has not been presented before the court if she has changed her statement. He stated that if she has changed her statement, she should be named as an accused in the conspiracy.
