Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy dares police to take action against him
The Minister refuted claims regarding a sting video and accused Chief Minister DK Shivakumar of conspiring to distribute videos of Prajwal Revanna.
Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Monday dared the Bengaluru City Police to take action against him while refuting claims made by the police regarding a sting video targeting former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, according to The Hindu.
The Bengaluru Police had previously alleged that the video was exchanged at Kumaraswamy's residence in Delhi. Kumaraswamy stated that many people visit his residence without restriction and said he did not know whom the Police Commissioner was referring to.
During a press conference, Kumaraswamy accused Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar of meeting and conspiring with the accused to distribute sleaze videos of former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna. He also accused Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh of acting on the Chief Minister's instructions.
The Minister questioned why the prime accused in the sting operation, Power TV managing director Rakesh Shetty, has not been arrested. This follows searches conducted by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Bengaluru Police at the residence and office of Shetty after obtaining a court warrant.
Kumaraswamy expressed suspicion that the investigation is not being conducted objectively. He noted that a woman victim had complained to the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, but the complaint was not acted upon at that time.
The Minister also suggested that if a woman who made accusations against the former Chief Minister has changed her statement, she should be named as an accused in the conspiracy.
