The nameplate of the former West Bengal Chief Minister was removed from the Kolkata cultural centre ahead of the Kolkata International Film Festival.
The nameplate of former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been removed from the main hall of the Nandan cultural centre in Kolkata and painted over in orange, according to ANI.
The plaque of her predecessor and former Chief Minister Jyoti Basu remains intact within the premises. This development occurs ahead of the annual Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF).
Separately, Mamata Banerjee attended a mega rally organised by the INDIA bloc at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on Sunday. The rally was held against alleged irregularities in electoral rolls and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
Addressing the rally, Banerjee accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of looting West Bengal. She stated that people in Bengal were victims of the SIR exercise and said she would continue the fight to protect democracy through political and democratic means.
The 'Chalo Delhi' protest march, which raised concerns over the SIR exercise and electoral roll irregularities, included leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Akhilesh Yadav.
