Amit Shah claims 3 crore illegal immigrants removed via SIR in Telangana rally

The Union Home Minister vowed to form a BJP government in the state while attacking the Congress leadership in Hyderabad.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah claimed that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls removed three crore Bangladeshi infiltrators during a 'Maha Padayatra' rally in Hyderabad on Monday, 2 October, according to South First.

Addressing the gathering, Shah stated that out of the names removed, more than six crore people had moved elsewhere, nearly three crore had died, and one crore were duplicate entries. He rejected claims that the BJP wins elections due to the SIR, noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi won in 2014, 2019, and 2024 without it.

Shah accused Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of turning the state into an ATM and alleged an "RR tax" was operating in the state. He also challenged Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to a special Parliament session regarding the SIR, infiltrators, and EVMs.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar questioned why the Home Minister did not address the state's pending demands from the Centre, such as the steel plant at Bayyaram and the rail coach factory at Kazipet. Prabhakar also asked for evidence regarding the number of foreigners found during the SIR.

The rally, held under the slogan 'Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy', moved from the Babu Jagjivan Ram statue to Mozamjahi Market. Shah urged BJP workers to visit households to counter what he termed 'misinformation' regarding the SIR process.
