Tampa resident displays 70-year pop culture and Hollywood collection

Rudy Scaglione recently organised an exhibition of his memorabilia at an assisted living facility in Tampa.

Rudy Scaglione, an 82-year-old resident of Tampa, recently held a pop culture exhibition at Brookdale Bayshore to display his lifelong collection of memorabilia. According to the Times of India, the archive includes items spanning seven decades of Hollywood history and major world events.

The collection features photographs and memorabilia related to stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor. Scaglione possesses a thank-you note from Elizabeth Taylor, which he received after sending her flowers and a get-well card while she was in hospital.

The archive also contains items documenting the first moon landing, the civil rights movement, the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, and the September 11 attacks. Scaglione began collecting magazines, newspapers, and photographs as a teenager.

The exhibition was organised with help from Millie Post to allow fellow residents at the assisted living home to view the items. The collection was previously kept in bookcases and plastic tubs at the facility.

Scaglione has built the archive over many years through newspaper and magazine subscriptions, newsstand purchases, and online buying.
