Jammu: Government offices to reopen on Monday for Darbar Move

The Civil Secretariat and other administrative offices will resume functioning in Jammu on November 2 following the restoration of the Darbar Move.

The Jammu administration is set to reopen the Civil Secretariat and various government offices in the winter capital on Monday, according to The Tribune. This marks the return of the Darbar Move after six months of administrative operations in Srinagar.

Preparations have been completed to accommodate government staff in Jammu for the next six months. Convoys transporting employees have already reached the city.

The Civil Secretariat, which contains the offices of the Chief Minister and ministers, has undergone renovation and maintenance. Authorities have also renovated government buildings and residential housing for staff.

Civic works including road repairs, blacktopping, and cleaning of footpaths have been carried out across Jammu. Security has been increased with police and paramilitary personnel deployed at vital installations and key areas.

The Omar Abdullah-led government restored the Darbar Move in October 2025 to fulfil an electoral promise. The practice was previously discontinued in 2021 by the Lieutenant Governor-led administration to save costs and transition to e-offices.
