Tamil Nadu transfers three prison officers after recent prisoner escapes
The transfers follow the recent movement of prisoners across the state and the replacement of the DGP (Prisons).
The Tamil Nadu prison department has transferred and posted three officers across the Madurai, Salem and Cuddalore Central Prisons, according to The New Indian Express.
The order, dated October 31, comes after recent incidents of prisoner escapes in the state. This follows the government's Thursday decision to transfer DGP (Prisons) Sandeep Rai Rathore and appoint ADGP K Shankar as his successor.
R Krishnaraj, the Madurai central prison superintendent, has been moved to Salem. He will replace G Vinoth, the additional superintendent in Salem, who is being transferred to Cuddalore.
A Parasuraman, the Cuddalore central prison superintendent, will move to Madurai. He is set to take over from A Murugesan, the deputy inspector general of prisons for the Madurai Range.
Murugesan will hold the Madurai charge until Parasuraman arrives. In Cuddalore, Vinoth will take over the position from Parasuraman once he joins the station.
