MGM hospitals in Indore launch digital OPD services
Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital registered 1,537 patients on the first day of the new Hospital Information Management System rollout.
Hospitals affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Medical College in Indore launched the Hospital Information Management System (HIMS) for outpatient department (OPD) services on Saturday, according to the Free Press Journal.
On the first day of implementation, Maharaja Yeshwantrao (MY) Hospital registered 1,537 patients, while MTH Hospital recorded 234 registrations. All consultation and treatment details are now entered directly into a digital database.
The OPD module is operational at the Super Speciality Hospital, Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya, State Cancer Hospital, and MRTB Hospital. The system consolidates registration, clinical consultations, diagnostic results, and treatment history onto a centralised platform.
The digital transformation is part of a Rs 300 crore state government project to integrate healthcare institutions across Madhya Pradesh. The project aims to enable seamless patient data access and improved inventory management.
While the OPD system has been undergoing trial runs since August, the inpatient department (IPD) module remains stalled. Although network cabling is complete, a shortage of hardware such as desktop computers and handheld tablets has delayed the IPD implementation.
Hospital authorities have not announced a timeline for the procurement and deployment of the necessary IPD hardware.
