Trump says US has one or two targets left in Iran

President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that the US has decimated Iran's military but still needs to address remaining sites.

President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the United States has one or two remaining targets to address in Iran, including a suspected underground nuclear complex known as Pickaxe Mountain. Speaking to reporters at his Florida residence, Trump claimed the US has already weakened Iran's military and nuclear programme.

According to reports from The Hindu, the President noted that while negotiations to end the war, which began in February, are progressing, he described Tehran as not being very reliable. He added that the US is not in a hurry to take offensive action as it has already caused significant damage to Iran's capabilities.

The remarks follow a warning from Iran's supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei. In a statement to military commanders, Khamenei said that any threat against the country would be met with a response that is immediate, impactful, and has no geographical limits.

Khamenei also instructed commanders to revise their target lists to include all tangible and intangible assets of the US and Israel. This was the first reported meeting between the supreme leader and top military officials since he took office in March.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Trump has not yet decided on fresh strikes and that the United States remains open to a diplomatic solution. Trump has previously suggested that military action could occur after the US midterm elections.
