Tilak Varma may join India A squad for third unofficial Test

Jasprit Bumrah is set to travel to New Zealand on November 1 while Rishabh Pant's availability remains uncertain.

India middle-order batter Tilak Varma is expected to be included in the India A team for the third unofficial Test against New Zealand A. Selectors intend to provide the left-hander with red-ball experience.

The match is scheduled to begin on November 7 at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln. Varma could join the squad in Christchurch before moving to Tauranga for the final two ODIs.

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will depart from Bengaluru for New Zealand on November 1. He had been at the BCCI Centre of Excellence since October 25 for a routine assessment.

A source told TimesofIndia.com that Bumrah's visit to the Centre of Excellence was for a routine assessment and not to increase his workload.

Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant remains uncertain for the third unofficial Test. Pant is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence under the BCCI medical team.

While Bumrah was originally planned to travel with Pant, the player's Return to Play has been delayed.
