New Zealand elect to bowl first in final T20I against India

Mitchell Santner won the toss at Seddon Park as India leads the series 3-1.

New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and chose to field against India during the fifth and final T20I at Seddon Park, Hamilton, on Sunday.

India currently leads the series 3-1. The visitors arrived in Hamilton following an 87-run defeat at Eden Park, where they failed to chase a total of 260 runs.

Indian skipper Shreyas Iyer confirmed two changes to his side, with spinner Varun Chakaravarthy and pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar joining the playing XI. Axar Patel and Mayank Yadav are the players who miss out.

Santner announced one change for the New Zealand lineup, noting that Blair Tickner returns to the team while Matt Fisher misses the match.

Speaking at the toss, Santner said the pitch looks alright and mentioned the possibility of dew later in the game. He added that the team has been performing well with the bat throughout the series.

Iyer stated that the team wanted to bat first to understand how the wicket behaves, noting that they had chased in all four previous games.
