Three Kuki community members killed in Manipur gunfight

The exchange of fire between rival armed groups occurred in a forested area of Noney district on Saturday.

Three people from the Kuki community died during a gunfight between rival armed groups in Manipur's Noney district on Saturday, according to The New Indian Express and The Hindu.

The clash began on the morning of October 31 at Kekru Naga village and lasted for several hours in the forested hill area.

A police officer identified the deceased as Thanglensang Singson, Thangkhosei Haokip, and Lamminsang Kipgen, who were from the Henglep and Thanlon areas of Churachandpur district.

Kuki civil organisations described the three individuals as village volunteers.

The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), which is the apex body of the Kuki community, issued a statement condemning the deaths.

KIM alleged that Naga militant groups were responsible for the killings and called for accountability, justice, and prompt action from the State government.

Police stated that they have implemented necessary security measures in the region.
