South Africa beat Australia 2-1 to reclaim top Test ranking

Captain Temba Bavuma described the series victory as his best experience after the team defeated Australia in the final Test.

South Africa defeated Australia by 176 runs in the third and final Test at Newlands on Saturday to win the series 2-1, according to The Tribune. The victory allowed the hosts to reach the top of the ICC Men's Test rankings.

The Proteas recovered from a 100-run first-innings deficit through centuries from Ryan Rickelton and Wiaan Mulder. Simon Harmer took 10 wickets in the match, while Kagiso Rabada secured three early strikes to seal the win.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, captain Temba Bavuma said the win was his number one series experience. He credited the bowling attack as the backbone of the team's success across different conditions.

Bavuma also addressed critics who had previously labelled the team's World Test Championship final triumph a fluke. He stated that the team's performance provided belief and answered those critics in a cheeky way.

The captain noted that the team had made positive strides towards their goals. He said the players would take a week to settle before starting preparations for their next assignment against Bangladesh.
