Mohammad Kaif questions India's handling of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Former India batter Mohammad Kaif suggested the youngster should have played the fourth T20I against New Zealand.

Former India batter Mohammad Kaif has questioned why Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was excluded from the fourth T20I against New Zealand. Kaif suggested the young batter deserved more chances, particularly since India had already secured the series with a 3-0 lead.

Sooryavanshi played in the second and third T20Is after Ishan Kishan was sidelined by injury. However, he was replaced by Kishan for the fourth match, which India lost by 87 runs in Auckland.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Kaif said it was not good news for the player to lack a consistent run. He noted that Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma scored 100 runs in six overs during the third T20I.

Kaif argued that the fourth match provided a suitable platform to groom Sooryavanshi, similar to how the team is developing Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav. He also suggested that Ishan Kishan could have been rested instead of being rushed back into the playing XI.

India lead the series 3-1 and will face New Zealand in the fifth T20I at Seddon Park on Sunday. Sooryavanshi may return to the side, potentially replacing Sanju Samson, who has scored 14, 18, and four runs in his last three innings.
