Telangana launches TISC initiative to engage start-ups as government contractors

The Telangana Innovation Start-up Challenge aims to find scalable solutions for seven priority rural and urban challenges across the state.

The Telangana government has introduced the Telangana Innovation Start-up Challenge (TISC) to allow entrepreneurs and innovators to work with the state and secure government contracts, according to the Deccan Chronicle.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy instructed officials to seek innovative ideas for solar-powered irrigation as the primary challenge under the TISC programme.

The lead challenge seeks to create solar pumps or deep borewell retrofit kits that cost 30 per cent less than current options, featuring theft-resistant panels and tamper-proof metering.

The initiative intends to provide solar irrigation to all farms in the state and lower the load on the power sector by addressing seven priority challenges in rural and urban areas.

The programme, which was launched at an Invest Telangana Global Summit event in Delhi last week, is open to researchers, technology companies, and academic institutions from India and global hubs.

Interested parties can submit proposals via tisc.telangana.gov.in until November 30, with shortlisting and review dates to be announced soon.
