Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann transferred Rs 1,291 crore directly into the bank accounts of 37.43 lakh women across Punjab on Sunday. According to The Tribune, the Chief Minister launched the next phase of the Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana in Abohar.

Mann stated that 80.05 lakh women had registered under the scheme as of October 29. He said the government is working towards a target of covering one crore women.

During the event, Mann alleged that the maximum number of sacrilege incidents in Punjab occurred during the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) regime. He also criticised SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal regarding the current state of the party.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by AAP Punjab president Aman Arora and Cabinet Minister Baljit Kaur. Abohar AAP halqa in-charge Suhani Doda was also present during the address.

Gunwant Singh Sandhu, general secretary of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Khosa), Punjab, alleged that 5 to 8 kg per quintal is being deducted during paddy procurement due to moisture and quality issues. Several farmers were taken into custody while attempting to protest during the visit.
