Indian chef leaves Michelin Guide-listed restaurant to sell chole bhature in Dubai
Pradeep Khullar opened a small takeaway outlet in Dubai's Oud Metha neighbourhood, where customers have waited over an hour for food.
An Indian chef who previously led the kitchen at Nazaara, a restaurant included in the Michelin Guide Dubai 2026 Selected list, has opened a small takeaway outlet in Dubai. Pradeep Khullar and his business partner Saubhagi Veer launched Bhaturewala in the Oud Metha neighbourhood on October 16, according to a report by Hindustan Times.
The outlet offers chole bhature for AED 20, which is approximately ₹520, as well as mutton bhature and lassi. The establishment does not have a conventional dining area and serves 200 plates daily, according to Emirates 24/7.
Khullar and Veer left Nazaara days after the October 6 announcement to focus on their independently funded venture. Khullar, who began his career in 2004 after enrolling in a hotel management course, previously worked at Indian Accent and Punjab Grill before moving to Dubai in 2015.
The founders discussed their shift from fine dining to a street-food business on Mira Business FM on October 22. Khullar noted that some customers have waited more than an hour for their orders.
Khullar stated that he remains particular about food quality, mentioning an instance where he refused to serve mutton curry because it was overcooked despite customers waiting outside.
