Cyclone Murasu likely to hit Andhra Pradesh coast on Tuesday

The India Meteorological Department predicts a cyclonic storm will reach the coast on November 3 following the recent Cyclone Arnab.

A depression in the Bay of Bengal is expected to develop into a cyclonic storm named Murasu, which is forecast to hit the Andhra Pradesh coast on Tuesday morning, according to Business Standard.

IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra stated that the cyclone could have wind speeds of 80 to 90 kmph, with gusts reaching 100 kmph.

The department has advised fishermen to stay away from the sea until at least Wednesday afternoon and urged those currently at sea to return to harbour.

Mohapatra warned that the west-central, southeast, and parts of the central Bay of Bengal will be dangerous for small boats or ships starting from Sunday.

The IMD expects significant rainfall in Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on November 2 and 3, including some areas seeing extremely heavy downpours.

Heavy rain is also anticipated in southern Odisha during November 3 and 4.
