Carlos Alcaraz wins Vienna Open by beating Alex de Minaur
The Spaniard secured his 28th career title and completed a perfect 16-0 record at ATP 500 events in 2026.
Carlos Alcaraz defeated Alex de Minaur 6-1, 6-4 to win the Vienna Open on Sunday, according to reports by Sportstar, Hindustan Times and Telangana Today. The 23-year-old Spaniard secured his fourth title of the season and the 28th of his career.
The victory extended Alcaraz's ATP 500 winning streak to 26 matches. He completed a perfect 16-0 record at ATP 500 events in 2026, having previously won titles in Doha and Tokyo. All three of these 500-level titles were on hard courts.
Alcaraz won the match in 1 hour and 27 minutes, marking his seventh consecutive win over the Australian. De Minaur, the fifth seed, had reached the final after a semifinal victory over Alexander Zverev.
The second-seeded Alcaraz did not drop a set across his five matches in Vienna. He clinched the title after a cross-court forehand landed inside the line following a rally that included a sliced backhand drop shot and a lob.
Alcaraz said his form in Vienna had been encouraging and that it had been an emotional and amazing week. He noted that he had to be focused because De Minaur is fast and his style is dangerous.
De Minaur entered the final on a ten-match indoor unbeaten streak. He will now focus on the Paris Masters as he attempts to qualify for the ATP Finals for a third consecutive year.
