The B28 bullet train, intended for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor, is being manufactured at BEML's Aditya Plant in Bengaluru, according to The Indian Express.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited the plant on Sunday to inspect the manufacturing process of the trainset.
The eight-coach train, which consists of four motor cars and four trailer cars, has a total length of approximately 202 metres. It can carry about 557 passengers, including space for two Persons with Reduced Mobility.
The train is designed for a top testing speed of 280 kmph and will operate at 249 kmph. It includes seven standard-class coaches with 3x2 seating and one executive-class coach with 2x2 seating.
Passenger features include LCD screens in English, Hindi and regional languages, a Wi-Fi-based infotainment system, and emergency talk-back units. The train also features a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system with two units per coach.
To assist accessibility, the train floor is aligned with platform height and includes Braille-enabled signage. The design also incorporates a regenerative braking system to improve energy efficiency.
