PM Modi calls Opposition an obstructive force at Gujarat event
Speaking at the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations in Ekta Nagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleged the Opposition seeks to divide the nation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the Opposition on Saturday during a gathering at the Parade Ground in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat. According to the Hindustan Times, he stated that the Opposition has become an 'Avrodh Paksh' or obstructive force instead of a 'Virodh Paksh' or opposing group.
The event was held to mark Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, which commemorates the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Modi said the nation must remain united against forces that he alleged want to divide the people.
The Prime Minister questioned who was meeting secretly in foreign nations and suggested that forces against India were providing support to certain individuals. He also claimed that social media is being used to spread rumours and damage India's image.
Modi noted that while the promise to eliminate Naxalism and Maoism has been fulfilled, he warned that the threat of 'dimagi Naxals' remains high. He stated that the country is following the path set by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The Prime Minister identified 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' and 'Vikshit Bharat' as two primary goals. He said future priorities include the total security of national borders, preventing infiltration and demographic shifts, and progressing toward a secular civil code.
