BRS claims government seeks to evict 4,000 families to favour realtor

Former Minister T. Harish Rao visited Narsingi colonies to inspect red markings made by HMDA officials for a planned 100-feet road.

A Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) team led by former Minister and Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao visited Seven Hills, Western Meadows, and other colonies in Narsingi on Saturday. According to The Hindu, the visit was to inspect red markings made by HMDA officials for a planned 100-feet road expansion in Gandipet mandal.

During the visit, Rao and other BRS members spoke to families who claimed their buildings were marked for demolition despite holding all necessary permissions and occupancy certificates. Rao alleged that the government is acting to favour 'one Radha Realtor' rather than the public.

Rao stated that a 2013 master plan alignment for the road had previously demolished a 400-year-old Hanuman temple. He said that after the BRS came to power in 2018, a new gazette, GO No. 181, curved the road past the temple to save the temple and households.

The former Minister claimed that the 2026 gazette lacks public interest and is putting about 4,000 families in approximately 2,000 apartments through an ordeal. He also said that changing the master plan requires a notification, consultation, and a public hearing, but none of these occurred.

The BRS delegation included former Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy, legislators D. Sudheer Reddy and Dasoju Sravan, and Rajendranagar BRS in-charge P.

Karthik Reddy.
