Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah marries Nidhi Razdan

The marriage of the 56-year-old Chief Minister and the 49-year-old journalist was solemnised under the Special Marriage Act.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah married television journalist Nidhi Razdan on Friday, according to reports from Hindustan Times, The New Indian Express and Deccan Herald. The marriage was solemnised under the Special Marriage Act in New Delhi with family members from both sides serving as witnesses.

The couple announced the news on Saturday through social media posts. Abdullah shared photographs on X, stating, “a new journey began yesterday,” while Razdan wrote, “It’s done bro.”

Wedding functions were held in both Srinagar and New Delhi. Attendees included Abdullah's parents, Farooq Abdullah and Mollie, his three sisters, and close relatives, as well as Razdan's parents, M K Razdan and Sarla Razdan.

This is the second marriage for both individuals. Abdullah was previously married to Payal Nath in 1994 and they have two sons, Zahir and Zamir. The Supreme Court dissolved that marriage in July following an amicable settlement.

Razdan, 49, was previously married to Neelesh Misra in 2005, a marriage that ended in divorce in 2007. She is a prominent television journalist formerly associated with NDTV.
