BPSC cancels recruitment for 1,711 assistant professor posts in Bihar

The Bihar Public Service Commission has withdrawn advertisements for various medical specialities in government colleges and hospitals.

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has cancelled recruitment advertisements for 1,711 Assistant Professor posts in various government medical colleges and hospitals across Bihar, according to Medical Dialogues.

The decision applies to advertisements numbered 04/2025 to 28/2025, which were issued in April 2025 for regular appointments under the state Health Department. The commission stated the advertisements were withdrawn after the department withdrew its petitions.

The vacancies included clinical and non-clinical specialities such as Anaesthesia, General Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pathology, Radiology, and Microbiology. The recruitment drive aimed to strengthen the teaching and medical workforce in state-run institutions.

Applications for these posts initially closed on May 7, 2025, with a deadline extension to June 30 for certain specialities. While media reports indicated the selection process had reached document verification in July 2025, the recent announcement cancels the process.

The commission has not specified if previous applications will be considered or if candidates must apply afresh. It remains unclear if the revised recruitment will maintain the same number of vacancies, speciality distribution, or eligibility conditions.

The Health Department is preparing revised recruitment notifications, though no release date has been announced. Candidates have been advised to monitor the official BPSC website for updates regarding the new advertisements.
