Vice President Radhakrishnan and Governor Patel perform Aarti in Ayodhya

The dignitaries visited the Ram Janmabhoomi temple on Saturday to offer prayers and light ceremonial lamps.

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel visited the Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya on Saturday to perform the 'Aarti' of Shri Ram Lalla Virajman, according to ANI.

During the visit, the dignitaries entered the sanctum sanctorum to offer prayers and lit ceremonial earthen lamps in the temple courtyard. They were welcomed at the complex by Swami Govind Dev Giri Ji Maharaj, the General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.

The ceremony was attended by several seers and trustees, including Swami Kamalnayan Das Ji Maharaj, Acharya Mithileshnandini Sharan Ji Maharaj, and trustee Mahant Dinendra Das Ji Maharaj. Other attendees included trustees Krishna Mohan and Madan Mohan Pandey.

Earlier on Saturday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticised Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav during an event in Ayodhya. Adityanath demanded that Yadav express regret and apologise to the kar sevaks who were targeted by gunfire during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.

Adityanath also noted the transformation of the city, mentioning that Ayodhya now has an international airport named after Maharishi Valmiki. He remarked that while the first Deepotsav faced criticism, the temple has since been constructed.

To manage the crowds for the celebrations, more than 2,500 police officers and specialised security forces were deployed. Over 30 lakh diyas were used to illuminate 56 ghats along the Saryu River banks.
