US offers $20 million reward for information on Iran's nuclear programme

The reward includes possible relocation for details regarding nuclear facilities, equipment, and personnel, according to US Central Command.

The United States is offering a reward of up to $20 million and potential relocation for intelligence concerning Iran's nuclear programme, according to reports by Mathrubhumi and The Economic Times. US Central Command announced on Friday that the State Department's Rewards for Justice programme is seeking data on nuclear facilities, equipment, and personnel, including members of the scientific community.

The reward offer covers information regarding the movement of nuclear-related equipment and staff. The State Department noted that Iran's non-compliance with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards has resulted in a loss of continuity of knowledge regarding the production and inventory of components such as centrifuges.

The announcement follows claims by President Donald Trump that US military action has obliterated Iran's nuclear capabilities. Speaking in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday night, Trump said that if Iran had possessed nuclear weapons, they would have used them to obliterate the Middle East.

Trump also stated that Iran is eager to end the conflict and wants to make a deal. He noted that the country's economy and military have been severely damaged over eight months of war.

While the US maintains that preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons is a national security priority, Tehran has consistently stated its programme is for peaceful purposes. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Tuesday that his government is attempting to resolve the crisis through dialogue.
