Melinda French Gates shares office tour and advocacy for women
Philanthropist Melinda French Gates showcased personal items in a social media video to highlight women's progress and leadership.
Philanthropist Melinda French Gates shared a video on Instagram providing a tour of her office and the items that bring her joy, according to a Times of India report.
The video, which has been viewed by more than 1.2 million people, featured a figurine of the late US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a 1950s board game called “The Exciting Game of Career Girls,” and artwork displaying the word “JOY.”
French Gates described Ginsburg as a major influence and displayed a framed quote from the late justice stating, “Women belong in all places where decisions are made.”
She also noted that the vintage board game serves as a reminder of how much opportunities for women have expanded over time compared to previous decades.
The artwork above her desk, which consists of small human figures, represents collective joy. French Gates said that sharing joy with others doubles it.
Through her organisation Pivotal, founded in 2015, French Gates focuses on gender equality and women's health. She pledged an additional $215 million to the organisation earlier this year, making her total contribution to the group $600 million over the last two years to support maternal healthcare and contraception.
