West Bengal Board suggests postponing Class 10 exams to March 2027
The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education proposed shifting the schedule due to teacher deployment for the upcoming Census exercise.
The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has suggested deferring the annual main examinations for Class 10 from February to March 2027, according to a Times Now report.
The board has urged the state education department to consider shifting the examination dates from February 15–25 to March 2–16, 2027. This proposal follows the upcoming Census exercise, which is scheduled to run from January 25 until February 28 next year.
WBBSE President Laltu Das told PTI that the suggestion is a proposal and nothing has been finalised yet. He stated that teachers who conduct the exams will have to be deployed for the enumeration exercise in February.
The current unaltered schedule for the 2027 Madhyamik examinations begins on February 15 with first language papers and concludes on February 25 with optional elective subjects. The exams are currently set to be held from 10:45 AM to 2 PM.
The revised date sheet is currently awaiting approval from the concerned department. If the state education department approves the revised schedule, the WBBSE will publish a new subject-wise examination calendar.
