Extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Nalgonda and Nagarkurnool on Wednesday as cyclonic storm Murasu approaches the Andhra Pradesh coast.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy-to-very-heavy rainfall warnings for multiple Telangana districts as the severe cyclonic storm Murasu approaches the south Andhra Pradesh coast, according to reports by Urban Acres and Telangana Today.

The IMD Hyderabad placed several districts on high alert on Monday. While the core of the storm is forecast to make landfall on the Andhra Pradesh coast, its wider circulation is expected to bring thunderstorms and rain across the state.

Weather authorities have warned that isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely in Nalgonda and Nagarkurnool on Wednesday. Heavy-to-very-heavy rainfall is also expected at isolated places in Suryapet, Mahabubnagar, and Wanaparthy.

The weather department noted that rainfall intensity could increase during the following 24-hour period. In some areas, lightning and gusty winds of 50–60 kmph may occur.

Heavy rain is likely at isolated places in several other districts, including Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal.

The current weather warnings are connected to the movement of the approaching cyclonic storm and its impact on the region.
