Omar Abdullah directs ministers to fast-track development works in Jammu

The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure winter preparedness and the effective utilisation of allocated funds following the Darbar Move.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday directed ministers and senior officials to accelerate development works and ensure the effective utilisation of allocated funds. According to The Tribune, the instructions were given during an introductory meeting at the Civil Secretariat following the resumption of the biannual Darbar Move.

The Chief Minister told newly inducted ministers and those with new portfolios to conduct detailed reviews of their departments. He asked them to assess progress on commitments made in the last Budget and prioritise addressing public grievances, according to reports by ThePrint and Greater Kashmir.

During the meeting, Abdullah stressed the need for adequate winter preparedness and maintaining sufficient stocks of essential commodities, particularly in remote areas. He also directed departments to formulate time-bound, people-centric budgetary proposals that align with the needs and aspirations of the people.

The Chief Minister inaugurated infrastructure projects worth Rs 1.89 crore at the Civil Secretariat to improve facilities for employees and visitors. These included a pre-fabricated office block costing Rs 158.09 lakh and a renovated Reception Hall completed at a cost of Rs 31.10 lakh.

Abdullah also visited the fire-ravaged Shiv Market near Jammu Railway Station to assess the damage caused by a recent blaze that destroyed dozens of shops. He interacted with businessmen who suffered financial losses during the fire.
