BJP president Nitin Nabin tells Rahul Gandhi to apologise for 1984 riots

Addressing a gathering in Rohtak, the BJP national president criticised the Congress leader for holding a protest instead of seeking forgiveness.

BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Sunday criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for holding a protest instead of offering an apology for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. According to a report by Times Now, Nabin made these remarks while addressing a gathering in Rohtak, Haryana.

Nabin stated that the Congress party ought to have asked the Sikh community for forgiveness regarding the violence of November 1, 1984. He said that instead of atoning for the massacre, the party has taken to the streets to demonstrate.

The BJP president also referenced a remark made by former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi following the riots, which stated, 'When a big tree falls, the earth shakes.' Nabin told Gandhi that the tremors from that statement resulted in the deaths of many Sikh brothers.

The comments follow a mega rally held by the INDIA bloc at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on November 1. That rally, titled 'Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao', targeted Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar regarding alleged electoral roll irregularities.

On Sunday, Nabin led a 'Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao' padyatra in Rohtak. The BJP described the march, which moved from Chhotu Ram Polytechnic Ground to D-Park in Model Town, as a protest against opposition misinformation and propaganda.
